THE YAAB WHAT WE DO...

The YAAB, or Young Adult Advisory Board, is a group of Westford-area Young Adults or Teenagers ages twelve and older who meet on a monthly basis with the Young Adult Librarian at the J. V. Fletcher Library (JVFL) to discuss ways and means of promoting the JVFL to Westford’s young adult populous. The main objective of the YAAB is to involve teens in the functioning of the library by seeking their creative ideas and input on programs, services and materials.

At the JVFL we're delighted to have an advisory board of teens with creative minds and lots of ideas to help us out. Here’s a general list of activities performed by our YAAB members:

  • Plan, publicize, execute and attend teen activities and programs.

  • Create an inviting teen atmosphere at the library.

  • Advise the Young Adult Librarian on the selection of YA materials.

  • Design and publish promotional materials for the library.

  • Promote and encourage reading by young adults.

  • Advocate the rights of young adults.
